Welcome to Plant Guard. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application for Plant Guardentification and AI-assisted health diagnosis.
By using Plant Guard, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the application.
Developer / Operator Information
Apple requires apps to be transparent about data collection. Plant Guard processes information to provide identification, diagnosis, and garden tracking as described below.
When you use Plant Guard, you may provide or generate the following information:
When live identification or diagnosis is enabled (your build is connected to our API and Supabase), plant photos you submit are uploaded to secure cloud storage, then processed by our servers and AI partners solely to return species or health results. We do not use your photos to train public models in the current version.
Typical flow: your device uploads the image to cloud storage under an anonymous account identifier, our API retrieves it using authenticated requests, and a third-party plant-recognition or vision-language service returns structured results to the app. Symptom text, if provided, is included in the diagnosis request.
If the app runs in offline or demo mode (for example, when no production API is configured on your device), photos are not sent to our servers or AI providers; results come from bundled sample content instead.
When Supabase is configured, the app may create an anonymous account on first launch so uploads can be scoped to your user ID. Session tokens are stored locally in the app WebView to authenticate API requests. We do not require your name, email, or password for this anonymous access.
When the app uses the internet, standard technical data may be processed by networks and service providers involved in that connection. In the current build this includes, for example:
We do not use this information inside Plant Guard to identify you for advertising or to build an advertising profile. We do not sell your personal data. We do not integrate third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the current version; if that changes, this policy will name the partners and purposes.
We only request system permissions when they are strictly necessary for features you choose to use.
The current iOS build does not request microphone, contacts, or location access for Plant ID’s main features.
Plant photos may depict your home, garden, or surroundings. Please avoid including people or sensitive background details you do not wish to share when submitting images for cloud processing.
Third-party sharing: We do not sell your personal information. We share plant photos and related request data only with service providers that help us operate identification and diagnosis (such as cloud storage, hosting, plant-recognition APIs, and AI inference providers), under contracts that limit use to providing the service. Font CDNs and similar hosts process only the connection data inherent to HTTPS requests, as described in Section 1.4.
On your device: Session data such as diagnosis history, garden additions, and in-progress captures are held in app memory and are cleared when you close or reload the app, unless otherwise noted.
In the cloud: Uploaded plant images and anonymous account records may remain in our storage and provider systems until deleted under our retention practices or upon your verified request. The current app version does not expose an in-app control to delete server-side uploads; contact us if you need assistance.
iCloud / backups: If you use Apple’s device backup or iCloud backup, whether app data is included depends on your Apple ID and device settings. That process is controlled by Apple; we cannot access your backup files.
Security: Use a device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID, and avoid sharing your unlocked device with untrusted people. Anyone with full access to your unlocked device may be able to see data stored locally in the app.
Plant Guard is not directed at young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the higher age required where you live). If you are a minor, please use the app only with a parent or guardian and their consent.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected a child’s personal information, contact us using the email below and we will take appropriate steps, including deletion where the law allows.
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA/UK, California, or other regions), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, or to opt out of certain uses.
You can stop submitting photos at any time by not using identification or diagnosis features, revoke camera or photo permissions in iOS Settings, or uninstall Plant Guard to remove local app data.
For statutory requests about data we process on our servers (including uploaded images tied to an anonymous account), contact us at the email in Section 7. We will respond within a reasonable time as required by law.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time—for example when we add new features (such as full accounts, cloud sync, or analytics) or when laws change. When we do, we will update the Last Updated date at the top and, when the changes are material, provide additional notice (such as in-app text or store listing updates) where appropriate.
We encourage you to review this page periodically.
